Management Accountant – 3–6 Month Contract (Day Rate) Location: Chelmsford (5 days per week in the office) At Rutherford Briant, we’re working with a highly regarded organisation based in Chelmsford, known for its strong operational focus, collaborative culture, and commitment to excellence. They are seeking a Management Accountant on an initial 3–6 month contract to provide hands-on support during a busy period across reporting, budgeting, and project activity.
As a Management Accountant, you will:
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts with detailed variance analysis.
- Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, ensuring robust financial insights and commentary.
- Partner with operational managers to track performance, identify variances, and drive improvements.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
- Assist with month-end close processes and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
- Contribute to process improvements across reporting and financial control.
- Support wider finance projects and provide ad hoc analysis as required.
As a Management Accountant, you will need:
- Proven experience in a management accounting or similar commercial finance role.
- Part or fully qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information clearly.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or Workday).
- A hands-on, proactive approach and the ability to work full-time on site in a fast-paced environment.
