Rutherford Briant Executive have been exclusively engaged in Essex to recruit an experienced and driven Operations Manager.
Our client is experiencing an extended period of growth and providing their clients with the first class level of service they are renowned for.
This is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of all contracts and ensuring operational excellence across the business.
Working closely with the Managing Director, Contracts Managers, and Senior Engineers, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and optimising resources to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
This role requires a proactive, solutions-focused individual who can maximise productivity, minimise disruption, and drive strong commercial performance across all live projects.
An electrical background is highly desirable, as you will provide technical oversight and support decision-making across contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and support Contracts Managers in delivering electrical contracts and project works
- Ensure smooth and efficient operational performance across all projects
- Plan and manage engineer workloads to maintain consistent scheduling and reduce downtime
- Drive commercial performance, ensuring projects remain on budget and financially viable
- Review project costs, margins, variations, and overall profitability
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations and company procedures
- Identify and implement improvements to operational systems and processes
- Monitor workforce availability, including annual leave, to ensure project coverage
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction
- Support business growth through strategic planning and operational improvements
Candidate Background
- Proven experience in an Operations Manager or Senior Contracts Manager role within the electrical sector
- Strong commercial awareness with a clear understanding of contract profitability
- Electrical background (qualified electrician or equivalent industry experience preferred)
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong planning, organisational, and multitasking abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Proactive, solution-focused mindset
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
