Building a Career at Rutherford Briant
10 years ago, like many school leavers, I had completed my A Levels and was unsure what was next for me. Whether that was attending university or trying to find a career that not only suited my skillset, but I enjoyed and had a clear pathway to it. At that point, I had heard of recruitment, but I didn’t really understand how it worked or why it was so popular.
Rewinding the clock to January 2015, when I first started at Rutherford Briant, I never could have anticipated just how much opportunity lay ahead. Over those 10 years, I’ve moved through almost every role in the business including, Resourcer, Consultant, Manager, Associate Director and now I sit as a Director within our newly created Executive Search business, Rutherford Briant Executive. This has given me the opportunity to help shape a business from the ground up, much like the growth and transformation I’ve witnessed at Rutherford Briant since I first joined.
That progression wasn’t a straight line, and it certainly wasn’t easy, but it was always possible. The leadership team saw potential in me and gave me the tools, training, and trust to grow. Recruitment is certainly the type of job that you are rewarded with hard work and dedication.
What I’ve been fortunate to experience while working at Rutherford Briant is the consistently high standard of training and development. From structured external courses and internal workshops to informal, on-the-desk mentoring, I’ve always been supported with opportunities to grow and build new skills, all of which have played a key role in helping me progress to where I am today.
I have always been lucky to be surrounded by high quality recruitment experts in our office. This has given me the chance to learn from their expertise and model my approach on what makes them successful. We are incredibly lucky to have a first-class support function, that allows us to have constant development plans, marketing plans and a finance function that means we are able to do focus on the parts of the role we are good at. Throughout my time, we have always invested in the best technology possible to ensure we have the best tools at our disposal.
What makes working here different is the belief in people. By working for a business this size, I have found that all ideas are welcomed and no matter your level within the business everyone has a voice. Talent is recognised and effort never goes unnoticed.
