Remote Work at Rutherford Briant
When I started my career in recruitment over 10 years ago, remote work was not ever something that was considered or even spoken about. I spent around 90 minutes a day commuting to an office, struggled with finding a parking space and, most of the time, losing valuable time which could have been utilised on speaking with candidates or clients. Since joining Rutherford Briant, I have been given full trust and flexibility to work remotely with an occasional office day which is a great balance and gives me the best of both worlds.
A Lifestyle That Works
Working remotely has completely transformed how I work—and live. I still hit my targets, build strong client relationships, and support my candidates through their career journeys. But now, I do it from a space that works for me, with the support of the Senior Leadership Team, fellow management team and my colleagues on a daily basis. I am more focused, productive and definitely happier. There’s something empowering about being trusted to manage your own day, with a clear focus on goals and the freedom to achieve them how I see fit.
What Working from Home Really Looks Like…
Flexibility that means something; I plan my day around when I am most productive. Whether that’s early mornings with a coffee or late afternoon calls, I make it work and still get time for life outside of work. That balance has made me a better recruiter.
A connected team: I thought remote work might feel isolating, but that hasn’t been my experience at all. Regular team calls, group chats and online collaboration mean I’m always in the loop and feel supported.
The same opportunities, with more freedom: I've continued to grow professionally with remote training, mentoring and support. The difference? I get to do it from home, in a way that fits my lifestyle. I’m measured by the quality of my work, which has recently been rewarded with my promotion to Recruitment Manager.
Best of both worlds: I have the flexibility of working from home majority of the time, but I still have an office presence on a weekly basis which is really important to me. I am able to cement the working relationships I have with my colleagues, get involved with different projects and simply, have a really good laugh with face-to-face interactions.
