From University Graduate to Marketing Manager
Like many graduates, I left university passionate about my studies within marketing and eager to turn it into a career. Spending those years at university, building up your knowledge and perhaps dipping your toe into some real-world experience along the way is a great stepping stone, but implementing this into your first role after graduating can sometimes feel a little daunting.
Building Something New
Following my graduation in 2022, I joined Rutherford Briant’s operations team as their first Marketing Assistant, a brand-new role supported by an external marketing consultant to help shape and establish marketing within the business. Rutherford Briant’s onboarding was structured but hands-on and I was quickly involved in real projects that gave me the insight into how marketing supports a fast-paced recruitment business.
Shaping Strategy
Within one year, I progressed into a Marketing Executive role, which gave me more ownership and a chance to really shape our marketing strategy. Along the way, I was supported with regular check-ins, training and the freedom to explore new ideas. From leading marketing training to running multi-channel campaigns, I was encouraged to push boundaries and take on new challenges.
Expanding the Team
After two years at Rutherford Briant, stepping into the Marketing Manager role was a great opportunity to drive our marketing strategy forward and align it with the business’s rapid growth. One of the most exciting parts of this role has been growing our team to better focus on ROI through smarter, more targeted initiatives, which has opened up new opportunities for us to refine our approach and bring greater impact to the wider business.
